Siddhartha, the story of Siddhartha’s journey for spiritual enlightenment,
was a very illuminating novel. It revealed lifestyles that were completely unknown to me. I enjoyed reading it because it gave me a taste of a completely different culture from the one in which
I live. When I was reading, I felt sorry for Siddhartha and the other characters that spent their entire lives
searching for something to fill that empty hole inside of them. For me, the only thing that can fill that hole
is the love of Jesus Christ. Siddhartha made me realize that there are entire cultures filled with people
that feel unsatisfied forever because they are searching for completeness in the wrong places. After reading this novel
by Hermann Hesse, I feel the need to try my best to let others know about the love of Jesus so they do not spend
their lives looking for something that they won't find. I would recommend Siddhartha to other students because
I believe everyone needs to be aware and familiar with other cultures of the world. This short novel allows the reader
to experience the culture in India through the eyes of a man in search for satisfaction.
